Gurugedara Merit Program
Every child deserves the chance to learn, regardless of their family's financial situation.
🎓 What is this program?
The Gurugedara Merit Program provides free access to Grade5Guru's Standard plan for students from financially challenged families. We believe that a child's potential should never be limited by economic circumstances.
This program is made possible by our paying subscribers. Every subscription helps fund a Merit Award for a student in need.
🎁 What Merit Award recipients get
- ✅ 3 months of Standard plan access (unlimited practice, full explanations, past papers)
- ✅ All the same features as a paid Standard subscriber
- ✅ Can be renewed — reapply before your award expires
- ✅ Your data and progress are always kept, even after the award period
👤 Who can apply?
This program is for students who genuinely need financial assistance. We trust families to apply honestly.
- Student is enrolled in Grade 4 or 5 at a government school in Sri Lanka
- Family is receiving Samurdhi assistance, or parent/guardian is a daily-wage earner, or the household is headed by a single parent
- Student has an active Grade5Guru account with at least 7 days of usage (shows genuine interest in learning)
📝 How to apply
Create a free Grade5Guru account and use it for at least 7 days to show your interest in learning.
Gather one of the following supporting documents (a photo or scan is fine):
- Samurdhi beneficiary card (සමෘද්ධි / சமுர்தி)
- A brief letter from your school principal confirming the need
- A short written note from a parent/guardian explaining the situation
Use our Contact Form or email us at smsreebook@gmail.com with the subject 'Merit Program Application'. Include your Grade5Guru username and attach your supporting document.
We'll review your application within 5 business days and notify you by email. If approved, your account will be upgraded automatically.
ℹ️ Important information
- Awards are granted for 3 months at a time and can be renewed by reapplying.
- We review a limited number of applications each month to ensure the program is sustainable.
- All information you provide is kept strictly confidential and used only for reviewing your application.
- Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to help as many students as possible.
