Grade5Guru is an educational platform that helps Sri Lankan students prepare for the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.

- Account information: Name, email address, grade, medium, district (provided during signup)
- Parent phone number: Optional, provided during signup for future progress notifications
- Usage data: Questions answered, scores, streaks, mock exam results
How We Use Your Data
- To provide personalized practice and track your learning progress
- To display leaderboards and badges
- To improve question quality and platform features
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes
AI-Generated Content
Some questions and hints on Grade5Guru are generated using artificial intelligence (Google Gemini, Groq). While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. Always verify important information with your teacher or textbook. AI-generated hints are clearly marked.
Children's Privacy
Grade5Guru is designed for children aged 8–11. We treat the entire platform as child-directed content under COPPA and similar international guidelines:
- We collect only the minimum data needed to provide the service
- We do not build interest-based profiles of children
- We do not allow behavioural or personalised advertising
- All advertisements are contextual only (non-personalised) with Google's TFCD flag
- Parents or guardians can request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's data at any time
Data Security
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (never stored in plain text)
- All API communication uses HTTPS in production
- Admin access is restricted and password-protected
Data Retention
Your account and data are kept as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us.

- Vercel: Frontend hosting (USA)
- Render: Backend hosting (USA)
- Google Gemini / Groq: AI hint generation (question text only, no personal data)
- Payment Gateway: Payment processing (name, email, payment details for subscribers only)
